Preparing for College: Nine Elements of Effective Outreach

The remarkable diversity in college preparation programs raises a compelling question: With a finite amount of time youth program evaluation and resources, which activities are most likely to improve educational achievement for underrepresented youth in the United States? This book defines youth program evaluation and analyzes the parameters of effective college outreach programs. Instead of looking at college preparation writ large, contributors focus on various program components, examining how elements such as academic preparation, culture, family, youth program evaluation and mentoring operate within the context of preparation programs youth program evaluation and how each contributes--or does not contribute--to program success. By engaging with individual program elements, the contributors provide a means for studying, evaluating, youth program evaluation and improving them.

Program evaluation - Program evaluation is essentially a set of philosophies and techniques to determine if a program 'works'. It is a practice field that has emerged, particularly in the USA, as a disciplined way of assessing the merit, value, and worth of projects and programs.

Youth program - Youth programs are particular activities designed to involve people between the ages of 10 and 25. Activities included are generally oriented towards youth development through recreation, social life, prevention, intervention, or education.
